Fresh students of Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Omu-Ijebu, have been warned to shun cultism and other vices that could make them vulnerable to sundry dangers or risk, leaving the institution unfulfilled.
The freshmen, 700 of them, were also warned that should they yield to temptation to join a cult group, the consequence may be physical impairment or loss of life in the event of cult-related attack.
The Provost of TASCE, Dr Abiodun Ojo, dished out the warning while the new students took their matriculation oath for the 2009/2010 academic session; even as he blamed followers for contributing to the decadence in Nigeria and the negative behaviours of the leaders.
Dr Ojo urged the students to commit their time and resources to study and good conduct, promising that the institution will strive to nourish them intellectually, socially and morally for utmost performance, stressing that the college would soon start degree programme as some institutions have indicated interest to start awarding degree certificate in affiliation with them.
The provost, who conducted newsmen to also inspect the facilities being constructed at the main campus of the college said the 1,500 capacity hall and the 26 classrooms block will soon be completed for commissioning by the state governor, Gbenga Daniel.
According to him, the challenges facing the college since its relocation from Ijagun to Omu in 2008 include infrastructure, space, time planning, and emotion as well as government policies.
